Oh what a large world it is
Have you ever looked out over the ocean, or over the edge of a cliff and marveled at how powerless you feel? The salt spray blowing in your face, the waves crashing dramatically over the rocks. Reminding you with every roar that you would never survive in it's midst. The heart stopping drop off beneath your feet, knowing that at any second you could tumble to the depths.
Our society has wrapped itself in the warped perspective that humans are the most powerful force on the planet. We have parted the seas and brought down mountains. Leveled forests and tamed the beasts of the earth. Then we look to the stars, believing that this world is too small for us. But is it? Our hearts quaver when we look at the sea, wondering how something so beautiful and powerful defies our desire. It frightens us, yet we can not seem to look away.
We have created a prison for ourselves within our technology. Enslaved ourselves in the power that we believe we weald. We long to be as free as the sea. As strong as the mountains that tower over us like silent guardians.
And we forget that, however powerful we may be, we are but speaks on the face of a great creation.
