"There comes a time in everyone's life, when you need to stop reading other people's books and write your own." ~Albert Einstein

Vira Riddle is an unpublished, un-acclaimed, author with a passion for her work. Her primary focus is on her series "the Sordian Chronicles" which spans a millennium of time in a world right above our heads. With an eye for detail and a twist on cliché that may surprise you, Vira will definitely bring excitement and adventure to the minds of readers.

Books define generations. If you wish to understand the mind of a society, study the books their children write. In the 1830's Jules Verne wrote of terrifying and exhilarating worlds, scientific discoveries that rocked the ages. Others predicted that by 2003 we'd have flying cars and a society of innovation. Yet here we are.
We are a generation of storytellers. Raised on worlds we could only dream of and taught by people we have never met. They remind us that heroes come from unlikely places, that villains are their own heroes, and that hope can be found in the darkest of times if only one remembers to turn on the light.
I was brought up on stories of intrigue and adventure. Tales of endless winters and lion kings, schools of witchcraft and wizardry, summer camps for demigods, and a quest to destroy an accursed ring. It was these words, these tales of legend and myth, that taught me how to survive in a fallen world. And so, I plan to return the favor.
Suilad, I'm Vira, an avid reader, author, and firefighter (in training). While my life may seem ordinary and uneventful, I find that every day I am presented with new challenges and exciting adventures that take my imagination far beyond my world. If I'm not doing school or working you'll find me curled up with a cup of tea and a good book, or spending time with my friends, family, and pets.
I grew up in the little city of Sandy Oregon, far away from all the hustle and bustle of Gresham and Portland. Next door to my Grandparents and cousins, close to a lake and a farm with lots of woods to explore. It was a child's paradise. That's where my imagination began, both my parents worked, and as an only child I had to learn how to amuse myself. I'd trample through the trees, riding imaginary dragons or fighting alongside the Pevensies in Narnia.
Christ is a significant influence in many of my novels and in my life! While most of my writing is not Christ-centered, he has helped me plot every scene.
A perfect day for me would be curling up with a good book and a warm cup of tea, rain pouring outside my window and a cat curled up at my feet. Or maybe Snowboarding with good friends down the slopes of Timberline Lodge and a steaming cup of hot chocolate after.
Some of my favorite stories are C.S.Lewis' the Chronicles of Narnia, John Flanagan's The Ranger's Apprentice series, J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Not to mention all of his other series), and Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. I could go on and on.
I’d have to say that some of my top ranking Tv shows are Sherlock, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Doctor Who, Leverage, and Avatar the Last Airbender, to name a few.
All of these have a few critical details in common, they are in depth and well thought out stories with fantastic character development and lots of humor. These details come through in my own writing style and creativity as I combine extensive world building and well-rounded characters in many different genres.
Even though I have a preference for high fantasy, I actively pursue writing in other genres as well, such as modern fiction, steampunk, dystopian, action, sci-fi, and traditional fantasy.
These stories don’t simply materialize out of thin air, each one contains experiences and lessons I’ve learned throughout my life, which I then pour into the lives of the characters and worlds I create. I hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
Namárië mellon nín,
~Vira
